Fountain Hills was given its name from this famous fountain that was built in 1970.

Today, the fountain is still one of the world’s tallest and attracts thousands of visitors each year.

The fountain is said to represent:

A celebration of life and water where it is most appreciated – in the middle of the desert”.

A few more interesting facts:

  • Driven by (3) 600 horsepower turbine pumps, the fountain can reach a height of 560 feet.

* It can be seen from as far away as the city of Carefree and even from an airplane!

* On St. Patrick’s Day, the water is turned emerald green, a tradition that started in the late 1970’s.

* It runs for 15 minutes every hour on the hour daily (weather permitting).

* People from all over the world can watch the fountain from home! CLICK HERE to view a live stream of the fountain on EarthCam.

(Note - Fountain runs for 15 minutes, every hour, at the top of the hour)
